PERSPECTIVE OF THE 100-HECTARE MULTI-INDUSTRY CLUSTER CORE SITE IN PHIVIDEC
Shown is a perspective of the planned 100-hectare Multi-Industry Cluster (MIC) Core Site within the Phividec Industrial Estate located in Barangay Mohon in the municipality of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
The joint project of the Korean and Philippine governments was recently formalized with the signing of the agreement. The feasibility study was prepared by a Korean consortium, the Saman Corporation-Korea Planners Association. The MIC is a development model that creates a network of specialized agro-based industries including knowledge institutions interacting, competing and cooperating at the same time at a particular area, thus reinforcing economic development.
There are two components of an MIC – a production area which refers to farming areas and an industrial zone called the MIC Core which refers to an area where industries related to processing, manufacturing, storage and distribution are conveniently located and later identified at Phividec, in Mohon, Tagoloan. The identified areas for production of agro-based products are in Claveria, Balingasag, Villanueva and Tagoloan.
